How To Adjust Cabinet Hinges: Two Ways To Adjust Cabinet Hinges

Two Ways To Adjust The Cabinet Hinges

The users can easily adjust the hinges of the cabinets in two easy ways that are mentioned as follows:

First Way: Evenly Fixed Hinges

  • Step 1: The users need to start pushing the closed cabinet doors with their fingers and then let the cabinet door to bounce back open. The cabinet door will not get closed down perfectly either at the bottom or at the top and this indicates that one of the door hinges are bent and that is letting the cabinet door slant from unclosed to the closed at the one end. The users need to select the door hinge at the door end that is locked.
  • Step 2: The users then need to wrap the cover of the matchbook over the piece of the cardboard that should be having the same thickness accordingly. The users then need to place the cover of the matchbook in between the cabinet side and the door just at the above area of the hinges and the close up the cabinet door respectively.
  • Step 3: The users then need to open the cabinet door and then detach the cover of the matchbook. Then one more time close up the cabinet door and if the users find out that the cabinet door does not properly close then at that time the users need to again use the cover of the matchbook and then place it again in between the cabinet side and the door. Then close up the cabinet door once again.
  • Step 4: Then after a few hours the users need to open the cabinet door and then detach the cover of the matchbook. Then the users need to examine the position of the hinges and if they still find out that the door is not closed properly then the users need to repeat the same procedure for near about 3 times till the door gets closed tightly.

Second Way: Inner Spring Hinges

  • Step 1: The users need to start by opening the door of the cabinet and then try to shut it back again with the pressure. If the users find out that the door of the cabinet is not closed completely then it might be the case of the light spring tension.
  • Step 2: The users then need to open the cabinet door and then keep it open by using the one hand and when the cabinet door is in the unclosed position it will gradually reveal the screws on the hinges. The users then need to use the flat-headed screwdriver to turn both of the springs in a clockwise direction so as to add more tension to the spring. The users then need to check the cabinet door and if they find that the cabinet door is yet not closed properly then the users need to adjust the screws till the door is closed.
  • Step 3: The users then need to open the cabinet door and push it again with the pressure and if they find out that the door shuts down hardly then it is the case of high tension in the springs and to fix it the users need to turn back the screws in a counter-clockwise direction and then test the tension of the springs respectively.
