Steps & Items Needed To Attach Bun Feet To Your Furniture

Do you have wooden furniture with attached legs but the legs are broken or damaged and you want to attach the new legs to your furniture then collect certain items, before following the give steps and then start your work. Don't skip any step because it will leave your work incomplete:

Items You Will Need For This Project

  • Bun Feet
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Dowel Screws Or Hanger Bolts (One Per Bun foot)
  • Drill Bit Slightly Narrower Than The Screws Or Bolts
  • Masking Tape
  • Drill
  • Pliers
  • Tape Measure

Steps For This Project

  1. Place Paper: First place a paper piece on your work surface and then set atop of your bun feet on it because the part of the foot of your furniture rest directly on the placed paper.
  2. Use A Pencil: Now, trace the top of your furniture on the placed paper by using a pencil. Make sure to Cut in circular shape and then fold it in the quadrant. Now, unfold your paper and poke through the center of it with the sharp pencil.
  3. Align The Paper: After following previous steps now, align a paper over your bun feet and make a pencil dot on the center of your bun foot's top; this will help you in the drilling process and repeat this process with each & every bun feet.
  4. Wrap: Now, hold a hanger bolt or dowel screw next to your drill bit, do this work where only the set of threads ends on a bolt (hanger) or on the end of the threads of dowel screw. After doing this now, warp a small part of masking tape at the comparable point on the drill bit for the act of depth gauge for drilling the bun feet.
  5. Drill: Now drill pilot hole down through the top of your every bun foot, remember to stop when your tape reaches the top of your wood. Don't make too deeper hole and do this process with remaining bun feet.
  6. Insert: Now, insert 1 dowel screw or the end of a hanger bolt in the pilot hole on every bun feet, then turn the metal or turn the bun feet counter-clockwise to tighten them fully. You can also grip your metal with pliers if you feel it is hard to tighten it by your hand alone.
  7. Flip: Now, you can flip your furniture on its aside, and then hole a bun feet to it coveted location on the bottom of your furniture with marking where it belongs with the pencil marks. Repeat this process with all remaining bun feet, you can use a measuring tape if you need.
  8. Drill: This is your final step, Drill straight hole through on each marking by using a drill bit and stop it when tape marks come. Remember your every hole should be consecutive entirely. Now screw every bun feet in every hole you made, keep turning the feet until they get fit in the bottom of your furniture.
  9. Using Hanger Bolt: If you're using the hanger bolt then remove all the washers from your nut bolts and then push the bolts direct the narrow piece of your wood furniture and out the other side and then attach a washer and nut to each of your hanger bolt and tight it with your hand, if you think this is a hard task to do with your hand then use a hand wrench. You can now paint or stain your bun feet according to the color of your furniture.

Tip & Warning

  • Tip: If your wooden furniture already has feet then check the items which are holding them in their correct place, repair or tight it again to give more life to the feet of your wooden furniture.
  • Warning: You can only use the bun feet according to the required size, the bun feet should be 1/4-inch taller than screws and bolts, otherwise, the metal will go through with the wood and will damage it, choose hardware and feet that are matched in height.
