10 Easy Steps To Polish/Clean Powder Coated Patio Furniture

Patio furniture, also known as garden furniture or outdoor furniture, is a type of furniture specifically designed for outdoor use like garden and balcony. It is composed of materials that are weather-resistant like aluminum which is rust-proof but sometimes the patio furniture is already covered by the powder-coated layer, in this case the polishing process of patio furniture is not so easy, you need more knowledge and lot of experience to do this work, but don't worry here are the easy and quick steps to Polish or clean Powder Coat Patio Furniture. Just follow the given steps carefully to achieve best results:
  • Step 1: First look for the current powder-coated furniture finish to decide weather you strip the powder or you simply paint over the powder-coated layer, this will depend on faded, peeling spots, chips or scratches.
  • Step 2: If there is no rust spots present then you can simply sand the entire surface area of your patio furniture to remove dirt and prepare your furniture for the new finish. Sand all of the nooks and crannies because the paint will not implement to powder-coated surface that has not been scuffed.
  • Step 3: If your current finish is damaged then strip the powder and try power washing to remove possibly loose powder or dirt.
  • Step 4: To speed up your process, use a chemical stripper. The commercial version can remove up to 8 to 9 coats of paint. Now, apply the stripper by using a disposable brush and let it sit for a few times, and then you can scrape the residue away. Repeat the process if necessary.
  • Step 5: Strip the patio furniture with a sandblast machine.
  • Step 6: Sand the surface of the powder or bare metal if left intact.
