The wood used to make hardwood flooring comes from different trees like dicot trees which grow in tropical forests. The lifespan of dicot trees is nearly 150-200 years, so the wood of dicot trees are best for making the hardwood floor planks. The hardwood floor is pet and child-friendly. The hardwood floor looks different from other flooring items but it can be easily damaged from heavy things, like moving heavy furniture or electric appliances without safety pad. Water leakage can be the main reason for the buckling of the hardwood floor.

Reasons, Items, And Steps To Repair Buckled Hardwood Floor

Here are the main reasons, items and steps to repair the buckled hardwood floor:

Items Needed

  • Chalk or grease pencil.
  • Circular saw.
  • Hammer.
  • Vacuum cleaner.
  • Electric fan.
  • Floor scraper.
  • Ruler.
  • Towels.

Steps

  1. Chalk Or A Grease Pencil: This is the first step to fix buckling floor hardwood floor. Simply use chalk or grease pencil to draw lines around the entire damaged area and use ruler to keep the lines in straight position.
  2. Circular Saw: The user needs to set the circular saw according to the depth of the damaged area, then make 2 parallel cuts on damaged area and cut the board according to the parallel cuts.
  3. Hammer: Use pry bar or hammer to remove damaged board. Simply, place the chisel at 45-degree angle against the damaged board, then tap with the hammer.
  4. Towels: In order to remove the moisture under the floor, use dry towel. Use a vacuum cleaner to dry the area. Leave the electric fan open until the floor gets dry completely.
  5. Floor Scraper: If the hardwood floorboards is installed with glue or adhesive, then use a floor scraper to remove existing glue or adhesive from hardwood boards.
  6. Fit: Now, cut the new board in right dimensions then fit the new board in the damaged area according to the size of the buckled area.
  7. Glue Or Adhesive: In order to place the boards in correct positions, apply adhesive or glue on the new cut boards. Then fix the boards with nails and hammer.
  8. Heavy Weight: If the user is applying adhesive on boards then place heavyweight items on boards for nearly 45 minutes because this will help the board to set.
