Steps & Material Needed To Fill The Wood Cracks

One of the synthetic resin groups called epoxy is used to make the plastics and adhesives. The epoxy material is also noted for its versatility. The high cost of the epoxy material is the main reason for the limited use of it. Epoxy material is also used for filling the wood cracks. So here are some easy and simple steps to fill the wood cracks with epoxy along with the material needed for the process. Just follow the given steps carefully in order to achieve better results:

Materials Needed

  1. Devcon Epoxy.
  2. Rit Black Dye.
  3. Blue Painters Tape.
  4. Orbital Sander.

Steps

  1. Taping: The first step to fill the wood cracks using the epoxy is to start taping each knot/crack with the blue painter's tape.
  2. Mixing Dye: Take some water and mix the rit black bye in bowl. Mix the dye until the users get the perfect color as they want.
  3. Mixing Epoxy: Mix the epoxy in a separate bowl for nearly 1-2 minutes.
  4. Mixing The Dye With Epoxy: Now mix the 3 tbsp of the rit black dye and a whole bottle of the epoxy with each other in the same bowl.
  5. Fill Crack: Apply a mixture of epoxy on the crack with the putty knife and be sure the mixture will not fall. Always tape the crack carefully to stop the mixture from falling. Now wait for 30 minutes to dry the epoxy completely.
  6. Remove Tape: After applying and drying the epoxy mixture on the crack it's time to remove the taping. Remove the taping carefully if the taping stuck under the epoxy don't worry about it the sander will fix it later.
  7. Sanding: The final step for filling the wood cracks with epoxy is to sand the wood using an orbital sander. Use an orbital sander to sand the wood after applying and drying the epoxy solutions on wood.
