Filling Holes In Wood With Clear Epoxy: Easy And Simple Steps

Easy And Simple Steps For Filling Holes With Clear Epoxy

If the user finds any hole in their wood and fixing those holes is necessary and the users can do this with the help of clear epoxy. The easy and simple steps to apply the clear epoxy in the holes are as follows:
  1. Respirator Mask: The user should wear a respirator mask and it's very important to work in a well-ventilated area, this is because epoxy isn’t something that the user wants to breathe in, so for precaution and to stay safe put on a mask before starting the work. The safest way to work is in an open environment and make sure that family members and pets are not near the work area.
  2. Masking Tape: Now this step is necessary in case the crack goes through the wood that time use the masking tape on one side to cover the crack. The masking tape will hold the liquid epoxy in right place for it to solidify.
  3. Squirt Epoxy: Now take a bowl and pour some epoxy in it, the epoxy consists of two-component or parts resin and hardener. Here the user needs to estimate how much is needed to fill out the crack then add them to the bowl, but don’t mix parts yet. The epoxy starts to get harden quickly when the parts are mixed. There will be only 5 minutes to get it into the affected area, so it's advisable to start with a small batch.
  4. Stir The Epoxy: In this step the user needs to grab a stick or spoon and quickly start mixing the epoxy parts together. Continue stirring the epoxy until it will turn into a paint-like substance than its ready to be spread over the affected area or cracks.
  5. Mixture Into The Crack: With the help of the same stick or spoon transfer the epoxy in the cracks, try to push it into the cracks as far as possible. Most of the epoxy material will flow down to the bottom and here the masking tape will hold it. In case any bubbles appear while pouring the epoxy then use the needle to get rid of them.
  6. Large Cracks: For the large holes or cracks mix more epoxy, as mentioned earlier that the epoxy hardens quickly so its good idea to mix it in small batches.
  7. Dry: Once all the holes are filled then let the epoxy to dry for almost an overnight, in order to check the epoxy simply press with the finger and if a dent occurs than it is not ready yet, let the epoxy to dry completely.
  8. Sanding: Once the epoxy is dried then use the sandpaper to level the epoxy, first of all, cut away any epoxy with the help of the putty knife then use the fine-grit sandpaper-like 120 to 220 grit sandpaper to flatten the affected area until it levels with the rest of the area.
