- Durable: The wood pallets are usually crafted from the two hardwoods that are pine wood and the oak wood and that is why it is very durable and can posses any pressure.
- Less Expensive: The wood pallets are less expensive than the rest of the other items.
- Repairable: The furnishing items that are crafted from the wood pallets can be repaired easily by using the simple nails or the wood glue.
Steps To Build Pallet Bed With Storage
If the users want to build their own pallet bed at their home they can do it easily but for that, they need to gather certain items and follow the below-mentioned steps:
- Gather The Material: The users need to start by gathering the two pallets for building the twin bed and the four pallets if they want to build the queen or the double bed. They need to make sure that the pallets should be 40/48 inch in size and also should be in great condition and should not consist of any cracked slats. The users are advised to be very cautious while choosing the pallets as they should assure that they are safe to get used. If the wood pallet does not consist of any marking or the stains over its surface then they have come from the esteemed source. If the wood pallets consist of the stamp then they need to discover all the necessary information regarding it in order to assure that they are safe to get used. If the wood pallets consist of the MB mark then it means they are processed with the methyl bromide coating and that is very harmful and cannot be used in homes.
- Sanding The Wood Pallets: Once the users have equipped the safety gear that consists of the hand gloves, eye goggles, and the respirator as well. Then they need to use the sander in order to sand down the rough surface of the wood pallets in order to attain the smooth finish all over the corners and sides of the wood pallets. The sanding process is important to deflect the wooden splinters and this process may require some time. Once the users are done with the sanding process they need to clean up all the dust and the debris particles from the surface of the wood pallets by using the soft tack cloth.
- Applying The Paint: The users then need to apply the stain all over the surface of the wood pallets by using the soft-bristled brush. If the users want to leave them unfinished then they need to apply the clear varnish layer over the entire surface of the wood pallets and then they need to allow the paint and the varnish to get dried off completely.
- Assembling The Bed: Then they need to lay the pallets and for crafting the twin bed they need to lay down the 2 wood pallets in the end to end direction. For crafting the queen bed they need to lay down the 4 wood pallets in the shape of the square. Then affix the 2 large hinges in between each one of the wood pallets in a way that the one corner of the hinges should lie on each one of the wood pallets. Then they need to sue the electric drill in order to build the pilot holes within the hinges and through the wood pallets. Then attach the hinges with each of the wood pallets by using the wood screws and the screwdriver. Then the users need to repeat the same technique with the other wood pallets for the larger bed and then affix the pallet set by using the more hinges. The users need 2 hinges for the twin beds and the 8 hinges for the queen or the double bed.
- Attaching The Casters: Then the users need to affix the wheels to each edge of the pallet bed and in the queen pallet bed the users need to affix the caster at the center and each edge of the bed. Then the users need to lock down the wheels and then flip the bed towards its right side upwards. Then they need to lay the mattress on the upper surface of the pallet bed and also lay the pillows and sheets as well.
