Cleaning Concrete With TSP And Bleach: The Proper Procedure To Clean Concrete Using TSP And Bleach

The Proper Procedure To Clean The Concrete Surface Using TSP & Bleach

Concrete is a stonelike material that is usually composed of cement, water, and stone or sand, which are mixed, poured, as well as cured into various designs. Concrete is more often than not used to make basement floors, patios, and driveways, due to the fact that it has great durability. Dirty or stained concrete can appear irksome & ugly, and difficult stains including grease or oil will not always come clean using regular detergents. Trisodium phosphate(TSP) is a strong as well as an effective & successful cleaner when it comes to getting rid of tough stains on concrete surfaces. Follow the below-mentioned steps carefully in order to clean the concrete surface using TSP:
  1. First of all, clean the concrete surface by brushing away any loose dirt or debris with the help of a stiff-bristled broom.
  2. The next step is to make the surface of the concrete wet using a garden hose, if it is outdoors, or you can use a wet mop in case of indoor concrete surfaces. Make sure to wear rubber gloves as well as a ventilation mask.
  3. After that, combine & put together 1/4 cup of trisodium phosphate(TSP) with 1 gallon of hot water in a bucket. With the help of a long-handled spoon, mix the solution well as long as the TSP dissolves completely. Use 1/2 cup of TSP if in case the concrete surface is exceedingly dirty.
  4. Now, clean the concrete surface using this solution, or apply the solution onto the concrete and scrub it with the help of a stiff-bristled broom.
  5. Finally, rinse the concrete surface with the help of a garden hose. If you are working indoors, you need to use a bucket filled with clean water and a mop to get rid of any remaining cleaner. Rinse the mop in the bucket, and replace the rinse water as needed before air-drying the concrete.

When you are planning to prepare a wall or painted trim for repainting, then you need to produce a stable and clean surface. Because you will be repainting, getting rid of the mold with a heavy-duty cleaner, including the trisodium phosphate and bleach is the best option. Make a mixture of 1/4 cup of TSP with 1/4 cup bleach in 1 gallon of very warm water. Apply this solution with the help of a garden-type sprayer, regular spray bottle, or sponge. Scrub clean the infected area and let the TSP sit on the surface for a few minutes before rinsing it with warm water. TSP and bleach are unreactive & stationary, which means you can mix up to 1 cup of bleach per gallon of TSP solution when it comes to average infestations. However, remember that this will only get rid of the mold and stains on the surface. Heavy deposits or growths will need an additional step.
