Best Wax For Antique Wood Furniture: Brief Overview


General Overview

There are a number of the wax's available for the wood furniture, but the best of them is "Paste Wax" which is often used to protect the finish and can also be used to finish the bare wooden furniture, it is very easy to apply and is nonsticky, heat-resistant. The paste wax must be used periodically, it is commonly used over a sealer stain to color, seal, and finish new as well as stripped wood. The steps to apply the paste wax are mentioned below:
  1. Sanded And Sealed: The furniture to be finished with the paste wax must be properly sanded as well as sealed with a thin layer of shellac. When the sealer is dried, rub the wood with the 0000 steel wool in the directions of the grains. And clean the furniture with the tack cloth.
  2. Apply: Then apply the paste wax with a lint-free cloth pad rub the wax in a circular motion, work with a small area at a time.
  3. Dry: Let the wax dry completely, then with a clean cloth wipe the surface firmly to remove any excess wax, after that simply polish it to a shine with a clean cloth.
