Best Paint For Wood Furniture Without Sanding: Best Furniture Paints That You Can Use Without Sanding

Best Types Of Furniture Paints That You Can Use Without Sanding

Contrary to what you may have been told, you don't need to sand wooden furniture before painting it. There are lots of methods to avoid sanding if that's a task you detest! Before painting, use a liquid deglosser or primer to help the paint adhere to the wood. Additionally, you can utilize unique paints like milk paint, chalk paint, and mineral paint that don't even need primers.

Heirloom Traditions Paint

  • My #1 choice for the best paint for furniture that doesn't require sanding is Heirloom Traditions Paint.
  • Even on glossy, slick furniture like laminate, this paint has incredible durability and adherence.
  • Additionally, it comes in a variety of colors and dries with a satin shine.
  • Furniture can be painted using Heirloom Traditions Paint using a brush, roller, or sprayer.

Pros & Cons
  • Amazing Durability
  • Amazing Adhesion
  • Satin Sheen
  • Many Colors To Choose From
  • Budget Friendly
  • Can Brush, Roll, Or Spray
  • When applied with a brush or roller, there is a lot of texture because it is not self-leveling.

Fusion Mineral Paint

  • My runner-up is Fusion Mineral Paint.
  • On wood furniture, it adheres well and is very durable.
  • It also includes a wide variety of colors, just like Heirloom Traditions Paint. (I ADORE Fusion's choice of colors!)
  • Fusion Mineral Paint, on the other hand, dries with a matte shine, therefore I prefer to topcoat it to give it a satin finish. (Even when clean hands are used to touch matte paint, it becomes dusty and unclean.)

Pros
  • Great Durability
  • Great Adhesion
  • Many Colors To Choose From
  • Can Brush, Roll, Or Spray

Cons
  • Matte Sheen
  • If you use a good brush or spray it on, it levels out beautifully.

Farmhouse Paint

  • My third choice for the best paint for furniture that doesn't require sanding is farmhouse paint.
  • It adheres well on wood furniture and also appears to be durable.
  • Compared to chalk paint, it offers higher adherence and durability.
  • Additionally, Farmhouse Paint comes in a nice range of colors and dries with an eggshell finish.
  • Furniture can be painted with Farmhouse Paint using a brush, roller, or sprayer. Because it is actually self-leveling, you won't leave behind many brush strokes when the paint has dried, even if you apply it with a brush.

Pros & Cons
  • Many Colors To Choose From
  • Can Brush, Roll, Or Spray
  • Eggshell Sheen
  • Levels Out Beautifully!
  • In comparison to Fusion or Heirloom Traditions, the adherence and durability are inferior.

Chalk Paint

  • My fourth choice for the best paint for furniture without sanding is chalk paint.
  • Without sanding, it adheres well to wood furniture. that is why it has been so well-liked as a DIY furniture paint by so many individuals.
  • Without a finish and without sanding, chalk paint dries to a matte shine that isn't very durable. (Yeah, even chalk paint companies that advertise that a topcoat is not necessary...) aren't that durable on furniture without one.)
  • So I like to use a water-based polyurethane to topcoat chalk paint. On your furniture, though, you can spray, roll, or brush chalk paint.

Pros & Cons
  • Many Colors And Brands To Choose From
  • Can Brush, Roll, Or Spray
  • In comparison to Fusion or Heirloom Traditions, the adherence and durability are inferior.
  • Does not level off till it is greatly thinned out.
  • Matte Finish requires top coating.

How To Paint Furniture Without Sanding?

Here's how to paint furniture without sanding it beforehand, in step-by-step fashion.
  • Use a degreasing cleanser, such as Krud Kutter, to clean. This will produce a smooth surface and improve paint adhesion.
  • Verify that the paint adheres by applying a sample to a small section of the furniture. The last thing you want is for your freshly painted surface to begin flaking off right away!
  • You're good to go ahead and paint the remainder of your furniture with two or more coats of paint if the paint passes a quick scratch test with your fingernail after curing for 24 hours. To apply the paint, use a brush, roller, or sprayer.
  • Till the paint is fully dried in 30 days, let it dry and handle it with extreme caution.
