How to Paint Wood Furniture with Acrylic Paint?

Painting a wooden surface with acrylic paint is not an easy task. If the acrylic paint is not properly painted then it may soak in the wood or the paint may not stick which will mess the wooden surface. Some of the steps that one should follow before painting wooden furniture with acrylic paint are:
  • First of all, a painter has to make the wooden surface evenly smooth by using the sandpaper of 140 to 180-grit.
  • After sanding the wood, rub the surface with a cloth to remove any dust.
  • In order to fill all the pores, prime the wood with a good quality primer, and let it dry completely.
  • Then apply the acrylic paint on the primed wood.
  • Finally apply the sealant to seal the furniture necessarily.

How to Paint IKEA Furniture With Acrylic paint?

Steps that one should follow before painting the IKEA Furniture:
  • Sand the IKEA furniture to dull and scuff the surface because most of the IKEA furniture has a laminating coating that makes paint difficult to stick.
  • Then clean the surface with a damp cloth in order to make the surface clean before painting.
  • Then prime the surface which will help the acrylic paint to bond.
  • After the surface is totally dry then the user can apply acrylic paint on it, 2 or 3 coats which depend upon the user which look he wants to give his IKEA furniture.
  • At the end it is very necessary to use a sealant like yellow varnish or wax on it.
